Frequently Asked Questions

What is a psychoeducational evaluation?

A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment process designed to understand a student's learning strengths and challenges. The primary purpose of this evaluation is to identify the underlying factors that influence a student's academic performance and to inform educational planning. A psychoeducational assessment may result in the implementation of school or exam accommodations, an adjustment in instructional strategies, learning support, or may inform the provision of specialized services such as an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

What if I need additional services after I get the results?

I focus on conducting a comprehensive evaluation to figure out the why behind your learning struggles and developing an evidence-based blueprint for your learning success. I will work to connect you with appropriate resources in the community like psychiatrists, tutors, therapists, or coaches, and will also consult with any of your current providers so there is a sense of consistency in your support services.

How long does the evaluation process take?

For a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, the testing session typically takes about 4 hours. If additional testing is needed, for example, due to a complex referral question, we will schedule another session. The entire process for a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is about 5 weeks from intake to feedback.

Completed reports for standalone IQ tests are typically delivered within 1 week of the test session.
